welcome to the YAOI shrine. You rotten sinner >:DDDDD/jkjkjk. Here i talk about gorai(also known as Goggles x Rider), one of the many splatoon ships that exist. They've known to be my otp since i read the Splatoon Manga/preferably called coroika.

Before we dig deep into Gorai, we need to learn about splatoon as a concept first. Splatoon is the first third person online shooter games released by Nintendo, and it firsted released in the Wii U. It was insanely popular in Japan, and Coro Coro Mangazine, one of the biggest manga disrupers held a competion to see which fan made comic of Splatoon can get into it. Sankichi Hinodeya was one of the artist that partisipated, and her manga was accepted. This was the begginng of the Splatoon Manga. A shonen manga which would eventually get translated by Viz Media in 2017. The manga revoles around Goggles with his tean;Team Blue as they try to win tournaments. Chapter 1 was then released to the public in 2015. The chapters plot starts around the Squid Sisters, the idols that hosted the news for inkopolis plaza, host the coro coro tournament. The team is very weak, as the maxium rank they were was B-. Regardless of Goggles being a C-, one of the lowest ranks you get in the game, he manages to beat high powered ranks with the power of friendship and idiocity. Team Blue first verses Team Yellow-Green, which was a S+ team(one of the highest ranks you can get in game in Splatoon 1). The main leader behind this team was Rider, a cold introvert who is very serious and controlling. Goggles however is the oppisite of this, he's a energitic idiot who does whatever he wants. Goggles also panteses Rider too, and Rider was the first victum of this(for humor). Once the battle begins, it seems like Team Blue has no hope at all, as Rider just crushes his opponites wih his gold dynamo roller and his special. He does this while he orders his teammates of what to do. Eventually, Rider stops Team Blue(but Goggles) thats its no hope and that you only need one good person to beat a turf war. Goggles proves him wrong however, and instead panteses him and then kills him.(im not even kidding.)

Because of this, Team Blue has their chance to defeat Team Yellow Green. Shooting down their opponites, Rider puts his blame on his teammates, inisitenting he could do it himself. Goggles comes to say its too late, and tells him that you need your teammates in order to win, pulling out his special(which is a weapon you gain after an amount of ink being spread) Inkzooka and shoots rider down the last second.

After Riders huge fail, he asks how possibly he was lost over a team that can work together without fail. Goggles responds saying he knows his team, and has been praticing with them. Rider results in thinking that last minute teams dont do that well, and insists that he'll defeat Goggles.

After the fisrt chapter of coroika(after chapter 0, the one that was the fancomic) released people instantly went yaoi mode. There was ship art in tumblr, twitter, etc!! They were known as the first splatoon ship you can ship other then gross incest and Agent 3 x a random octarian(which later envoled into agent 8 x agent 3). It was the first Yaoi splatoon ship ever in history ! It was popular in the early splatoon days and slowly slowed down by the mid 2020s when coroika can now be considered as a small fandom. That isnt to say Gorai isnt still the most popular ships however. It can even be placed as the third most popular ship, and the number most popular splatoon yaoi ship!(that isnt old men yaoi)

Now, if you havent read the splatoon manga yet, thats fine, as long as you've played Splatoon. If you havent played Splatoon, there will be spoilers for the story modes of the games, and dlc. If you are very much interested in the splatoon manga though, go head and read it! Do what you want. Here, i'll yap about gorai in partiacal. SO expect updates every now abd a then.
